Q&A with Dr. Lee

Dr. Lee Answers Your Eyecare Questions

How do I know if my reading problems are vision related?

Reading problems are common issues for most people around the age of 40, this call this “presbyopia”. This reading issues occurs earlier than 40 if you have “far-sightedness” and occurs later if have “near-sightedness”. One advantage “near-sightedness” has in reading is that without glasses (depending on the amount of correction), reading up close is easier without glasses. The reading problem which starts around the age of 40 will continue to worsen until around 60, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself needing to update your reading glasses every few years.
